Scott met Jeff Bezos in 1992 when working at D.E. Shaw, a quantitative hedge firm. She told Charlie Rose in 2013 about how she fell in love with Bezos because of his giggle. The couple married in 1993, and it was through Scott that Bezos initially introduced his internet company concept. Scott had been watching the increasing expansion of internet use and pushed Bezos to explore his concept. Despite the fact that it was not a financially secure move, both Scott and Bezos departed their positions at D.E. Shaw in 1994 & relocated to Seattle. Bezos worked on his business concept for an online bookshop as Scott transported them across the nation.

The foundation of Amazon began in Bezos and Scott’s garage, with Scott serving as an administrator. As per retired Amazon worker Jonathan Kochmer, she assisted staff with payroll and travel issues. Scott had aspired to be a writer since she was six years old. Thus, her husband’s notion to start an online bookshop appealed to her own interests.
