Top 10 Female CEOs in the World

Although the number of women in leadership positions at the helm of the largest corporate companies is less than the men, there is certainly a rising trend of women leaders in leadership positions and it is inspiring to fellow women in the world.

Following are the First 10 Women CEOs in the World according to the ranking of the Fortune 500 companies. Most of these CEOs are on the list of Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women in the World 2020 list.

Here’s a list of Top 10 Female CEOs:

  1. Karen Lynch

Lynch accepted the role of CEO at CVS Health in Feb 2021. She is the highest-ranking women CEO in Fortune 500 companies. CVS Health is the leading health service provider in the world.

  1. Mary Barra

Mary is the second-ranked female CEO by Fortune magazine. She is the CEO of General Motors. She accepted the role of CEO at GM in January 2014. She is leading the responsibility for GM to shift to electric vehicles by 2035.

  1. Rosalind Brewer

Brewer started working as the CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) in 2021. She is only the third Black woman and one among the 41 women to run a Fortune 500 company. WBA now ties executive pay to achieve diversity targets.

  1. Gail Boudreaux

Boudreaux is the CEO of Anthem. Anthem is the leading health insurer company in the USA. She ranks on both the Fortune’s Most Powerful Women in Business list and on the Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women in the World.

  1. Jane Fraser

Fraser was promoted to the role of CEO at Citigroup in Feb 2021. She is the first female to lead a major Wall Street bank. She joined Citigroup in 2004.

  1. Carol Tomé

Tomé took the helm of United Parcel Service (UPS) in June 2020. Tomé is the first women CEO at UPS and also the first leader who was not promoted from within.

  1. Thasunda Brown Duckett

She was named the CEO of Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA) in February 2021. TIAA has higher than $1 trillion in assets. She is among a handful of Black women CEOs leading a Fortune 500 company.

  1. Safra Catz

Catz was appointed as the CEO of Oracle (ORCL) in 2014. Following the loss of Co-CEO Mark Hurd, she became the only CEO of ORCL in 2019. Under her brilliant leadership, the tech giant company ORCL has to pursue completed more than 130 acquisitions with an aggressive acquisition strategy.

  1. Sonia Syngal

Syngal assumed the role of CEO of Gap (GPS) in March 2020, just when the retailers were affected by lockdowns due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Previously, she served as the CEO of Old Navy since 2016, which is one of Gap’s brands.

  1. Lisa Su, Ph.D

Dr. Su has been CEO and president of the semiconductor company, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) since 2014. Previously, she served as AMD’s COO and after that, she joined AMD in 2012 initially as a general manager and senior vice president of its global business.
